radiator pressure caps

Radiator Pressure Caps

When the car is running, the temperature of the coolant rises and the pressure in the radiator increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, the pressure valve of the radiator cap is pushed open by the pressure, and the flushed coolant will flow into the expansion tank next to it, and then when the pressure reaches a certain level, the pressure valve of the radiator cap is opened by the pressure. The car stops working, and when it cools down, the vacuum's cooling system sucks the coolant from the expansion tank back into the radiator.

Key Features of Radiator Pressure Caps

Stable performance of pressure valve.

Good sealing, no coolant leakage.

Strong corrosion resistance.

How To Test Radiator Pressure Caps?

The radiator pressure cap is used to seal the engine cooling system and adjust the working pressure of the system. How to test?

1) Use a special manual press to pressurize the radiator pressure cap.

When the pressure on the press and the pressure gauge reading suddenly drop, it means that the press valve is opened, and the opening of the press valve should meet the regulations.

2) Check the radiator pressure cap valve seat.

① Check that the valve seat expands outward so that the end of the plunger cannot be seen when the plunger is raised vertically from the top

② Check the valve seat for soil accumulation and damage.

3) Pull out the negative pressure valve to open it, and confirm whether it can be fully closed after the pressure is released.

① Confirm that there is no dirt or damage on the valve seat of the negative pressure valve of the radiator pressure cap.

② Confirm that the opening and closing operation of the negative pressure valve is normal.

4) Release pressure of the radiator pressure cap.

When connecting the radiator pressure cap to the radiator pressure cap tester and tester connector, apply the coolant to the cap sealing surface, and then check the release pressure of the radiator pressure cap.

Standard Pressure: 78~98kPa, Limit: 59kPa

5) If abnormality is found in the above three inspections, replace the radiator cover.

The inspection of the radiator pressure cap is very important, if it does not work properly, it will cause the engine to overheat.
